Anthropic's amended S-1: $17B Q3 revenue, $895.4B compute commitments ahead of IPO

Anthropic's amended S-1 is the clearest view yet of the company's finances ahead of what would be one of the largest tech IPOs on record, reportedly slated for later this month.
The revenue line is striking. Q3 revenue reached $17B, up 1,127% year over year, and nine-month revenue totaled $33.24B. The net loss narrowed sharply, from $66.3B in Q2 to $23.29B.
The liabilities side drew the most attention. Anthropic has committed $895.4B to compute and infrastructure, and roughly $69.8B of that comes due within the next 12 months. That puts it in the same league as the multi-hundred-billion-dollar buildout pledges from OpenAI, Meta and Microsoft. It also binds Anthropic's future to continued hypergrowth.
The main caveat is deceleration. QoQ growth fell from 144% to 47%. Critics on Hacker News and Bluesky, including Ed Zitron, argue the trajectory points to 15–25% growth in Q4. They question how commitments of this size get met if that happens. Investors will be watching pricing, the final valuation, and whether the next quarter stabilizes.
