Apple brings rebuilt Siri AI home with $299 HomeView hub and new Apple TV 4K

Siri AI is Apple's long-awaited assistant rebuild, now reaching the living room. Its onscreen awareness lets it act on what the user is watching or viewing. Personal context draws on user data, with Private Cloud Compute handling heavier queries under Apple's privacy guarantees. HomeView's facial recognition switches profiles automatically, and camera feeds get natural-language activity summaries. A HomePod mini 2 with far-field microphones was also refreshed.
This puts Apple directly against Amazon's Alexa+ Echo Show devices and Google's Gemini-powered Nest hubs, the two incumbents in AI smart displays. Apple's edge is privacy positioning and ecosystem integration. Its gap has been assistant quality, which Siri AI is meant to close.
Relatedly, Mark Gurman reports that Apple Intelligence's first features launch in mainland China in December via iOS 27.3, following China's approval of Alibaba's Qwen models for iPhones.
Watch for hands-on reviews of Siri AI's reliability, since past Siri launches underdelivered, and for developer access to the home features.
