AI-security startup Cyera in talks at a ~$20B valuation

The Information reports that Cyera is negotiating a funding round that would value it at roughly $20 billion, close to double its previous mark. Cyera focuses on data security posture: it discovers, classifies and protects sensitive corporate data, and it increasingly markets that work as defense against AI-driven attacks and against leakage through AI tools.
The valuation jump tracks a clear theme this week: cyber defense has become a benchmark battleground for frontier models. Google pitched Gemini 4 Carbon on SEC-bench Pro and ExploitGym scores. Mistral highlighted CyberBench and vulnerability-patching results for Large 4. AWS made Continuum, its automated vulnerability-remediation service, generally available. As capable agents spread through enterprises, and as incidents such as an agent leaking Pentagon credentials make headlines, the market for controlling where data flows is expanding fast.
Cyera sits in a crowded field that includes incumbents such as Palo Alto Networks and CrowdStrike, which are adding AI data controls, along with newer AI-security startups. A $20B valuation for a five-year-old company implies investors expect it to become a platform consolidator rather than a point tool.
Caveats: these are talks, not a closed round, and the report relies on unnamed sources. Watch for the lead investor, the final valuation, and whether the frontier labs' own security tooling starts to compete directly with independent vendors.
