Mistral partners with Cloudera to run sovereign models on governed enterprise data

Per SiliconAngle and MarketScale, Cloudera is embedding Mistral's frontier models into its secure hybrid data platform, so enterprises can run inference where their data already lives rather than shipping sensitive information to an external API. The partnership is described as nine-figure, signaling a substantial commercial commitment, and centers on 'running AI where the data lives' as a buying requirement for regulated industries.

The mechanism aligns tightly with Mistral's stated 'sovereign AI' thesis: control across four dimensions — data staying inside organizational boundaries, controllable/customizable models, private and predictable compute, and fully auditable production systems. By pairing open-weight Mistral models (recent releases include Mistral Medium 3.5, Small 4 and OCR 4) with Cloudera's data governance, the two target enterprises that can't or won't send data to US hyperscaler-hosted closed models.
