Google reportedly committing up to $40B to Anthropic — backing its own competitor

Bloomberg reports Google is preparing an investment of up to $40 billion in Anthropic, with $10B already committed, despite Gemini's direct competition with Claude. The deal would lock in Anthropic's compute future and deepen Google Cloud's AI workload share.
