Anthropic amended S-1 shows ~$17B Q3 revenue and $895.4B in compute commitments

The amended S-1 is the clearest view yet of frontier-lab finances. Revenue of $17B a quarter at 12x growth is extraordinary. A comparatively small operating loss of $567M suggests the business is close to break-even, despite $5B spent on short-term compute bought at premium prices.
The $895.4B figure is what caught attention. These are long-dated take-or-pay commitments for compute and infrastructure stretching to 2045. They lock in capacity but create fixed obligations that must be paid whatever demand turns out to be.
On Hacker News, commenters debated whether those obligations will come due before the revenue arrives to cover them, squeezing margins despite rapid growth. The same filing contains the disclosure that Claude wrote more than 90% of Anthropic's code. The Marketplace expansion fits the same story: capturing more enterprise spending to support a high valuation.
Comparison: OpenAI is routing users to cheaper models, and Musk says Grok loses money. Anthropic's numbers suggest strong demand, but this week's mood is about whether that demand can keep pace with compute costs. Watch IPO pricing and the first public quarterly report.
