Meta's Muse agent hits 5M downloads in three weeks as Muse for Small Business adds Shopify, Stripe and QuickBooks

Meta's consumer agent has momentum, and the company is converting it into a business product. Muse hit 5 million downloads within three weeks of launch and briefly displaced ChatGPT at the top of the app store. Muse for Small Business, announced around Meta Connect, plugs the agent into the tools SMBs already run on: Shopify, Stripe, Intuit QuickBooks, Asana, Box, Zoom, Slack and Instagram. Pricing runs from free to $20–$100 per month.
The agent works through connectors. It reads sales and finance data, drafts and executes actions such as marketing campaigns or cash-flow moves, and asks for human authorization before consequential steps. This sits inside a broader enterprise push. Meta launched the Meta Enterprise Platform under former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai, offering the Muse API and Muse Code, and the effort is backed by roughly $200 billion a year in AI infrastructure spending. Connect also brought hardware, including the $349 Charm device and $349 Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses.
The competition is crowded. Microsoft's Copilot Autopilot and Amazon's Seller Assistant chase the same 'agent that knows your business' idea. Deirdre Bosa even called Autopilot 'Muse for Business.' Meta's advantage is distribution through Instagram and WhatsApp business accounts.
The critics are loud. One developer called Muse 'the worst AI agent for privacy.' Builders want scoped connector permissions and clear retry semantics before handing an agent their Stripe keys. Enterprise Muse API pricing and terms are still unpublished, and open-source fans worry about Llama's role as Meta pivots to proprietary Muse. Watch for permission controls, API pricing, and any Llama roadmap statement.
