Google Launches Gemini 3.5 Live Translate Across 70+ Languages

Google launched Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, a near-real-time speech-to-speech translation system supporting more than 70 languages while preserving speaker tone and pitch. Early reactions on r/aicuriosity called it 'magic' and 'Star Trek-level,' praising its ability to maintain prosody across languages — a meaningful step beyond text-based or robotic-sounding translation.

Alongside it, Google introduced DiffusionGemma, an open-weight diffusion-based language model that generates faster than traditional autoregressive approaches; the model gained immediate ecosystem support, including NVIDIA's quantized DiffusionGemma 26B release on Hugging Face and inclusion in Transformers v5.11.0.
