OpenAI projects $70B annualized revenue by year-end, up from ~$50B in September

According to reporting this week, OpenAI expects to exit 2026 at about $70 billion in annualized revenue. Its September run-rate was roughly $50 billion. The projection follows the global rollout of GPT-6 Sol and Luna across ChatGPT tiers, the always-on 'Dots' agents for Pro and Business users, and new enterprise distribution through AWS Bedrock.
The growth engines look like a mix of consumer subscriptions, enterprise seats and API usage. Agentic products running on dedicated cloud computers sit at higher price points. The Bedrock deal also opens an enterprise channel OpenAI did not previously have. In parallel, the company is adding 200 jobs at its Dublin Applied AI Lab, which signals expansion of European enterprise deployment work.
The number puts OpenAI far ahead of any pure-play AI rival on revenue. It also has to fund enormous compute commitments, and the hyperscalers' push into custom silicon, such as Microsoft's Maia 300, is partly about lowering the cost of serving models like OpenAI's.
Caveats: this is a projection based on run-rate, not booked annual revenue. The same week brought an open letter from fired safety researchers and an insider bugging arrest. Growth is coming with governance turbulence.
