Mistral and Saudi AI company HUMAIN announced a collaboration worth hundreds of millions of euros on August 27 to develop and localize advanced AI models in Saudi Arabia. The initial focus areas are cybersecurity and voice, with a stated ambition to build frontier models that perform strongly in Arabic to serve the broader Middle East region.

The deal extends Mistral's distinctive sovereign-AI positioning. The same week, France named Mistral as a sovereign AI provider to test public services for cybersecurity vulnerabilities — explicitly excluding OpenAI — after a tax-agency breach exposed roughly 700,000 taxpayers.
