iOS 27 'Extensions' to let users pick Gemini, Claude or other LLMs for Siri; Apple settles Siri-AI suit for $250M

Bloomberg reports iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 will introduce an Extensions framework letting users choose third-party AI models — Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude and others via the App Store — to power Siri, Writing Tools and other system features, potentially including separate Siri voices per backend. Separately, Apple agreed to a $250M settlement of false-advertising claims tied to delayed Apple Intelligence Siri features previewed at WWDC 2024.
