iOS 27 'Extensions' will let users pick Gemini, Claude, or other models for Apple Intelligence

Per a Bloomberg report, iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 will introduce 'Extensions,' a framework that lets users choose third-party LLMs — including Google Gemini and Anthropic's Claude via App Store apps — to power Siri, Writing Tools, and other Apple Intelligence features. Apple separately agreed to a $250M settlement over the delayed advanced Siri previewed in 2024, with full unveiling expected at WWDC on June 8, 2026.
