It's a structural change to how the world's dominant search engine surfaces information — and a direct answer to AI-native search from OpenAI and Perplexity.

A leaked roadmap points to Gemini 3.5 Pro reaching general availability on July 17, featuring a 2-million-token context window and a 'Deep Think' extended-reasoning mode reserved for Ultra subscribers. The Search change carries the biggest downstream consequences.
