xAI's Grok 4.7 arrives on Amazon Bedrock in AWS GovCloud for public-sector workloads

Amazon Web Services has added xAI's Grok 4.7 to Amazon Bedrock in AWS GovCloud (US), the isolated region built for government and regulated workloads. Agencies and contractors can now call Grok 4.7 inside the compliance boundary they already use, governed by AWS IAM access controls and Bedrock's guardrail and governance tooling.
AWS highlights three improvements over Grok 4.6. The model handles mixed-format documents better, codes more reliably at repository scale through planning and automated error recovery, and runs stronger browser-use agents for autonomous portal navigation. That last capability is notable for government work, where much administration still involves legacy web portals that lack APIs. Grok 4.7 itself launched in September at roughly 2.1 trillion parameters with four reasoning-effort settings, and xAI is reportedly moving Grok toward a four-model router architecture.
GovCloud availability is a competitive marker. Claude and other frontier models have pursued public-sector authorizations to win lucrative government contracts, and landing on Bedrock gives xAI immediate distribution through AWS's existing procurement relationships. It also signals AWS's strategy of offering many frontier models side by side rather than favoring a single partner.
The timing is awkward. The same day, Baltimore sued xAI over Grok-generated sexual deepfakes, alleging misleading safety marketing. Government buyers will likely ask how Bedrock guardrails and xAI's own safeguards interact for sensitive deployments. Watch for FedRAMP and DoD impact-level details, named agency customers, and whether the lawsuit affects procurement decisions.
