Google DeepMind uses Antigravity for Science to accelerate antimicrobial peptide discovery
DeepMind's blog post covers its use of Antigravity for Science, Google's agentic research environment, to explore candidate antimicrobial peptides. Antimicrobial resistance is a priority area where conventional discovery is slow.
The work extends Antigravity beyond coding into wet-lab-adjacent science. It sits alongside Google's other research pushes this month: Deep Review for academic peer review, AMIE primary-care deployments and a Population Dynamics Foundation Model.
The same day, OpenAI launched its Rosalind Academic Plan for life-science labs, so the two labs are racing to become the default AI partner for scientists.
The caveat is that computational candidates still need lab validation and clinical trials. Discovery speed is only one step of a long pipeline.
