Beta 2 expands features across Photos, Safari, Shortcuts, and Wallet, adds a standalone Siri app for revisiting conversations across devices, and introduces systemwide Write with Siri.

Architecturally, Apple's revamped Siri uses a 'System Orchestrator' to analyze a query, decide what's needed, and route to local personal content or world knowledge — an on-device-first design consistent with Apple's privacy positioning, reportedly augmented by Gemini for heavier reasoning per WWDC-era reporting. The most telling change in beta 2 is editorial, not technical: Apple updated Siri's system prompt to clearly refuse requests to summarize or read content behind URLs, an apparent move to sidestep copyright and publisher-relations landmines that have dogged other assistants.

This fits a broader reframing of Apple from AI laggard to orchestrator. As one widely-shared take put it, 'Siri AI is basically what most consumers use ChatGPT and Gemini for' — a consumer-distribution advantage Apple uniquely holds via the iPhone install base. The caveats are familiar: these are early developer betas with bugs, battery drain, and unfinished features, and the public beta only arrives in July with the full release this fall.
