DeepSeek open-sources dsh-superagent, a proactive coding agent aimed at Claude Code and Codex

DeepSeek's Harness team released dsh-superagent as an open-source prototype. Instead of waiting for prompts, it monitors team communication channels such as Feishu, spots reported bugs and proposes fixes on its own. Bloomberg framed the release as a direct challenge to Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex. DeepSeek says it uses the system internally to isolate software defects.
A day later, DeepSeek added Creator Mode, which lets users build plugins for the Harness through plain-English conversation, including plugins for 3D rendering and video-editing tools. The official announcement drew about 1,600 retweets. The company has reportedly raised around $15 billion ahead of a planned IPO.
A proactive, chat-watching agent is a different interaction model from the terminal-centric tools offered by Anthropic and OpenAI, and from xAI's Grok Build, which coordinates up to eight coding agents. It also raises obvious privacy questions about agents reading team chats.
Early testers are unconvinced. r/LocalLLaMA users reported 'numerous issues', a 'counterintuitive' plugin system and broken search, and one developer 'decided to stop wasting time on it'. For now it is a prototype, not a Claude Code replacement.
