Meta launches Meta Enterprise Platform under ex-MongoDB CEO CJ Desai; Llama notably absent

Meta formally carved out an enterprise business: the Meta Enterprise Platform. It packages Meta's agent stack for businesses and developers:

- the Muse agent;

- Meta Business Agent;

- the Muse API;

- Muse Code.

To lead it, Meta hired Chirantan 'CJ' Desai, the former MongoDB CEO who was previously president of ServiceNow. He takes the title Chief Enterprise Platform Officer and reports directly to Zuckerberg. That reporting line signals the unit is a strategic priority, not a side project.

The launch rides consumer momentum. Meta's Muse personal agent, which handles tasks such as emails and travel booking, reached No. 1 on Apple's U.S. App Store. It is offering 100 million free tokens per week, and it integrated Shopify agentic checkout. Meta AI's own account listed ten Muse-branded releases in six months, from Muse Spark through Muse Code. Even AWS executive Matt Wood posted that his Muse agent was 'genuinely helpful' on a European trip.

Competitively, Meta is walking into the most contested market in AI. Microsoft just relaunched Copilot with Autopilot. AWS is pushing DevOps Agent and AgentCore, and Anthropic and OpenAI already sell enterprise agent platforms. Desai's enterprise-software pedigree at ServiceNow and MongoDB is Meta's answer to its biggest weakness: it has no history of selling to CIOs.

The most discussed detail is what is missing. The New Stack and community commentators noted that Llama does not appear on the platform. They read this as a quiet retreat from Meta's open-weights strategy toward proprietary, product-led agents. Watch pricing, data-governance terms, and whether enterprises trust an ad-funded company with workplace data. That trust gap will decide whether consumer virality translates into B2B revenue.
