Grok Bot adds Shop Pay checkout and Buy Now product cards

xAI's Grok Bot has moved into agentic commerce. Version 0.78.1, listed in the changelog on October 27, renders shopping results as product cards with a Buy Now button that starts an order via Shop Pay, so users can go from query to checkout inside the chat.

The feature reflects a race to own the transaction layer. Meta's Muse agent just expanded in Singapore with Shopee, Grab and Lazada integrations. OpenAI has pushed in-ChatGPT commerce, and Google opened Gemini and Search to more third-party apps this week. Whichever assistant completes the purchase captures the affiliate economics that search ads used to own.

Musk claims xAI ships more than 100 Grok Bot features and fixes every week, a cadence that emphasizes speed over polish. Shop Pay gives xAI an established payments rail and Shopify's merchant base without building its own checkout.

Caveats: coverage comes from third-party blogs reading the changelog rather than a formal announcement, and adoption numbers are absent. Security voices already warn about granting shopping agents payment credentials. Watch for merchant reach beyond Shopify and for any dispute or fraud-handling policy.
