LinkedIn to lay off ~5% as Microsoft restructures, open-sources mimalloc

Reuters reports Microsoft-owned LinkedIn will cut about 5% of its workforce and reorganize teams around core-business growth areas. Separately, Microsoft Research open-sourced mimalloc — a ~12K-line drop-in malloc/free replacement with bounded worst-case allocation times and low fragmentation aimed at multi-threaded workloads.
