GPT-5.4 and GPT-5.5 now available on Amazon Bedrock in US East

AWS has expanded availability of OpenAI's GPT-5.4 and GPT-5.5 models in the US East (N. Virginia) Region on Amazon Bedrock. The models target reasoning, coding, computer use, document workflows, and long-running agentic tasks, with GPT-5.5 positioned as OpenAI's most capable model for advanced coding and research.

The move is notable for placing OpenAI's frontier models on Amazon's cloud — historically Anthropic's home turf via the Amazon-Anthropic partnership. It reflects Bedrock's strategy of offering a multi-vendor model menu, letting enterprises pick among Claude Fable 5, GPT-5.5, and others within a single governed platform with the security, identity, and data controls they already run.

For customers, regional availability matters: US East (N. Virginia) is AWS's largest region, and local hosting reduces latency and eases data-residency compliance. The launch dovetails with the broader theme of model routing — as OpenRouter, Concentrate AI, and the hyperscalers all race to make switching between models frictionless, the value increasingly shifts from any single model to the platform that brokers access to all of them.
